About MSYG

What is MSYG?

Middle School Youth Group or “MSYG” is our exciting and meaningful ministry for older middle school students.  We invite all 7th and 8th graders to join MSYG regardless of church or school affiliation.  MSYG usually meets each Sunday afternoon during the school year for engaging community, fellowship, spirituality, service and fun.  Activities range from teambuilding, to vespers, to service projects, to games, to worship.

One of the highlights of the MSYG year is the Mission Trip to the Mountainside Treatment Center.  This three day trip over Memorial Day Weekend engages the youth in exploration of their faith and discussions of the dangers of substance abuse as they work and pray alongside selected residents in recovery.  MSYG lives in community with the selected residents of Mountainside as they work to restore and improve the facility and experience and embrace God’s love.

We eagerly greet the curiosity blessed to our middle schoolers as they explore and discern their relationship with God.  We faithfully build a community that meets middle school students where they are and acknowledges their high energy as well as their thoughtfulness.  Last year, over 70 young people participated in MSYG and over 30 traveled with us to Mountainside.  This year, we have again recruited a staff of caring young adults and high school juniors to be team advisors.  We are committed to affording every MSYG fish an opportunity for meaningful, small group experiences on one of our five teams.  Our calling remains to minister to each and every young person as the infinitely valuable child of God that they are.
