General Information

Service Projects
During 2006/2007 YG made meals for the people in the Norwalk Emergency Shelter.  They delivered 150 Thanksgiving dinners to families in need.  In New York they served the homeless for a weekend working in NYC shelters.  96 high school students gave up a chance for relaxation time and spent their March vacation in Chicago, Illinois renovating a building that used to be a golf club factory into usable fellowship and classroom space for a church.

Staffing
This program takes the effort of many dedicated individuals.  Our staff includes 2 full time youth ministers.  There are also 4 part time advisors who work with the youth ministers to nurture and attend to the needs of each of the youth in the youth group.

Teams
Due to the fact that YG is such a large group we create teams of 15 to 20 youth.  There are 6 teams and each one is lead by an adult advisor.  The teams mix students from different grade levels and interests.  Each team has an advisor who plans weekly activities for the team members to have the chance to get together outside of the larger group of YG and have quality time with their advisor.  The teams enable youth to make close friendships and strengthen their sense of community and connection.

Parent Support
There is a YG Parents Committee made up of 12 parents who offer support to the youth ministers and the program in their monthly meetings and through their assistance with YG events.

Participation Guidelines
To be part of YG youth are not required to come to a certain number of events.  If a youth would like to come on the mission trip then they must attend the 6 covenant events in the YG calendar.
