Donica was born in Texas, and lived in Tennessee, but calls Orlando, Florida her hometown.  Donica and Will grew up attending the same church and first met during a middle school mission trip to Atlanta (Donica had a slight crush on Will) but they didn't know each other throughout high school.  During high school, she was captain of the volleyball team and played four years of varsity basketball, winning State Runners-Up during her sophomore year.  During high school and college, Donica was a lifeguard at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and worked as a counselor at their church's day camp and at Kanakuk Kamps.  It was at their church's day camp during college that "Coach Will" and "Miss Donica" met again and became friends.

Donica graduated with honors from Valencia Community College, then went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Florida, and earned her Master's degree from University of Central Florida in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  After her graduation, she and Will were married at that same church in Windermere, Florida in 2003 then moved to Dallas, Texas and now live in New Haven, CT with their crazy dog, Blake.  Donica is a speech-language pathologist and works at a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Milford.
