Rev. Jonah Smith-Bartlett After living in Chicago, Oakland, and Richmond, Jonah ended up attending and graduating from North Haven High School in North Haven, CT, where he played basketball, quite poorly, but developed a love for writing and music. These interests followed him to Lynchburg College where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in English in 2002 and also sang and played the tin whistle (as well as wrote songs) for an Irish band. While at Lynchburg, he developed a strong interest in justice work as well as the arts and artists that promoted justice. Realizing that his band was fun, but ultimately mediocre, Jonah began attending classes at Union Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond where he earned a Master of Arts and Religious Studies in theology and ethics in 2006. He then moved back home and attended Yale Divinity School where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2009 and was ordained later that year in November. He is currently the Associate Minister of Children and Youth here at the Congregational Church and is principally responsible for the Guppies, JYG, Quest for Truth, confirmation and church school programs. He is looking forward to another great year as an advisor for YG! |
